Jacksonville Hospitality Institute Receives Grant From Comcast
FreshMinistries’ Jacksonville Hospitality Institute (JHI) accepted a check from Ann Murphy and M.G. Orender, representatives for Comcast, during JHI’s graduation celebration held Monday night at 5:30 p. m., September 10, 2007, at the Omni Jacksonville Hotel. “This generous donation from Comcast is wonderful on two fronts,” says JHI Director, Todd Jones. “First and foremost, it allows us to continue to offer free hospitality jobs skills training to low-income, underemployed and unemployed individuals between 18 to 45 years of age. And, second, since this represents the second year Comcast has awarded funding for JHI, it shows they have confidence in our mission and are committed to helping us grow the program.” Jacksonville Hospitality Institute offers job readiness and skills training, job placement assistance, counseling, mentoring and advanced training to low-income, underemployed and unemployed individuals between 18 to 45 years of age at its fully equipped training center. Working internships in culinary arts at the Clara White Mission and hands-on internships at area hotels, motels, resorts and catering companies give participants hands-on work experience. In addition to Comcast, Jacksonville Hospitality Institute partners with WorkSource, Hyatt, Omni Jacksonville, and numerous community and industry partners. JHI is located at Beaver Street Enterprise Center, 1225 W. Beaver Street, Jacksonville, Florida, 32204. For further information on program curriculum or participate in training, contact JHI Director, Todd Jones, 904.854.4444 or FreshMinistries’ Director of Communications, Pam Kearney, 904.355.0000. |
