Beaver Street celebrates 6 years of fantastic success
The Beaver Street Enterprise Center (BSEC), an initiative of FreshMinistries, celebrated six years of success and the entrepreneurial spirit with six events focusing on the different "senses" of business success:
• Taste the Success! -- “Bagels & Bankers” Helped small business owners learn about financing and getting loans, and meet reps from Center Bank, Florida First Capital Finance Corporation, First Atlantic Bank, First Coast Community Bank, Community First Bank, Borrego Springs Bank, Regions Bank & Essential Capital Inc.
• Feel the Success! -- “Feel Confident by Overcoming Call Reluctance When Your Business is on the Line”
• See the Success! -- “Building Authentic Brands through Twitter” Social Media Part II
• Hear the Success! -- “BSEC Anniversary Luncheon”
• Sweet Smell of Success! -- “BSEC Open House & Tours”
• ESP -- “Entrepreneurial Success Package” Entrepreneurial Fair & Forum with booths, speakers and an expert panel.
Beaver Street Anniversary Celebration highlights
Beaver Street Enterprise Center (BSEC) celebrated the graduation of three of its tenants:
• A. Harold & Associates – created 38 new jobs, $6.2 million in revenues
• Huxtable Education Group – created 171 new jobs, $1.2 million in revenues
• Universal Understanding – created 8 new jobs, $2.1 million in revenues
Anniversary luncheon notable guests included:
• Councilman Warren Jones, who said “We need to keep growing this incubator, to find the dollars to make it the best in the state and the nation.”
• Councilman Reggie Brown
• Councilman Kevin Hyde’s assistant
• Representative Audrey Gibson
• Congresswoman Corrine Brown’s representative
Roy Schleicher from JAXPORT spoke about Jacksonville’s role in the global economy and its part in the future of Florida.
BSEC tenant team Peters & Yaffee was honored as the Incubator Client of the Year.
Janice Donaldson, chairperson of the BSEC board of directors, received the Michael Bryant Award for her unwavering support and advocacy of BSEC.
Congresswoman Corrine Brown received the Entrepreneurial Advocate Award for her support of and cooperation with BSEC.
Also marking the beginning of BSEC’s 7th year, recent graduate Huxtable Education Group opened the first Learning Experience Child Development Center in Florida on July 1, 2009.
2008 BSEC highlights
• BSEC and its tenants created 366 new jobs in Jacksonville and generated $16.5 million in revenues.
