Affordable, Safe and Healthy Neighborhoods

One of FreshMinistries’ goals is to provide safe, affordable housing and home ownership opportunities to lower-income workers in Jacksonville, Florida.

Our mission began in 1994 when, along with other nonprofit groups, we undertook restoration of historic Springfield. With Springfield’s revitalization underway, we are now focusing our resources in Jacksonville’s core-city Eastside neighborhood.

This neighborhood has been neglected and plagued with crime and vandalism and subjected to environmental waste dumping by neighboring industry. Through our Eastside Housing Initiative partners and our environmental work with the Environmental Justice initiatives, the Eastside community has made a turn toward becoming a safe, affordable community with the newly renovated Bob Hayes park, refreshed storefronts along A. Philip Randolph Parkway and newly installed public service infrastructure.

FreshMinistries community restoration initiatives were recognized in 2004 by Bank of America when they designated FreshMinistries as one of only two Jacksonville organizations for their Neighborhood Excellence award program. The accompanying two year grant including core operating support and national training with other high performing mission based organizations from across the United States.
